Selling stolen cars and trying to burry evidence at Gene Martin Auto Sales
By Angela Carraway

If you have driven down Highway 31 in Jemison and seen the yellow caution tape that surrounds Gene Martin Auto Sales, thinking to yourself it's about time. Well the time has come. Busted is what some might say. Jemison Police Chief Brain Stiwell was on scene this afternoon at the Press Conference held across the street from the dealership and gave the latest information on this case. According to Chief Stiwell, this case involves a lot of outside sources such as the FBI, ADEM, and Department of Internal Revenue.

On Wednesday, a steady stream of former customers were stopping by the car lot to check with Sheriff's Deputies to see if their cars were stolen. Some customers who had purchased cars from Martin Auto Sales were not able to get titles for their cars. One such customer was Pat Ebrahimi who had paid cash for a truck purchased May 26th for her son. After repeated calls she was unable to obtain a title to the vehicle.

"Gene Martin Auto Sales new building opened in 2000 and since then there are no telling how many thousands of vehicles have been sold that were stolen merchandise, this is one of the biggest investigations for this county", says Chief Stiwell. "This all unraveled last Friday afternoon after a regular traffic stop". Apparently, that is when the investigation started, says, Stiwell. "Great police work", said Sheriff Davis. Local as well as state officials have been on the scene since and plan to stay at least a few more days. In the back of Gene Martin's Property there have been barrels found buried and are being investigated. Martin has been charged with Distributing and Trafficking Crystal Myth. More charges could be brought against Martin. At this time the rumor of deceased body's being found on or around the property are in fact rumors. According to Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis, no bodies have been found. Martin may have been under suspecion to locals and buyers but not Chilton County Police Department or any other law officials before this. In the meantime, if you are one of the unfortunate to have bought a vehicle from Gene Martin's Auto Sales, and have had trouble receiving your title please go by and let the police know. Your case will be reviewed individually and although some have lost their cars you may be one of the lucky ones. "Each case will be handled individually" said Sheriff Davis.
